Random Acts of Adventure
RAOA hands you a random adventure card and dares you to do it today. This page explains what the app stores about you, where it lives, and how to get rid of it.
RAOA is made and operated by David Phillips, an independent developer. In this policy "we" means him. Questions and deletion requests go to the contact address at the bottom of this page.
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous account ID | A random identifier created on your phone the first time you open RAOA. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID. | So your progress can be saved and restored, and so party rooms know who is who. |
| Profile | The nickname and avatar you pick in the app. Both are optional and can be anything. | Shown on your home screen and to other players in a party room. |
| Progress | Your XP, streak, level, which cards you completed, passed, skipped or favourited, and when. | That is the game. |
| Adventure photos | A photo you choose to attach when you complete an adventure. Nothing is taken or uploaded unless you tap to add one. | Kept in your skill tree as a memory of what you did. |
| Profile photo | A photo you choose as your avatar instead of an adventurer symbol. Optional. | Shown on your profile and on the party leaderboard. It is stored at a link that is not listed anywhere, but anyone who has that exact link can open it. |
| Party data | Room name, join code, the nicknames and pictures of players, each turn's card, bets, votes, passes, the bottle spin result and scores. If you leave or are removed, your name and the reason are kept with that room. | To run the game between phones in real time. |
| Party proof | A photo, video or audio clip you record or pick to show you did your adventure. | Shown to the players in that party so they can vote. A snapshot of your own proof is also kept as the memory in your skill tree. |
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Your progress, profile, photos and party data are stored on servers run by Supabase, a hosting provider we use for the app's database and file storage. Supabase processes the data on our behalf and under our instructions; it does not use it for its own purposes.
Access rules on those servers mean your progress and photos can be read only by your own anonymous account. Party data can be read only by the players who joined that room with its code.
Apple receives the usual app-store and TestFlight information, such as crash reports and install statistics, under Apple's own privacy terms.
When you tap a share button, RAOA makes a picture (or a video, for TikTok) of your adventure with the RAOA logo, the adventure number and the challenge text, and hands it to the app you picked. For Snapchat and TikTok this uses their official sharing tools (Snap's Creative Kit and TikTok's Share Kit), which pass the picture or video and a link to this website to their app. For some routes the picture is first saved to your photo library.
Nothing is posted until you post it yourself in that app. RAOA does not receive your Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok account details, contacts or activity. Once you post, what happens to it is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy. Their sharing tools may also send basic technical information, such as the app's name and version, to that company so the hand-off works.
We keep your data for as long as your anonymous account exists so that your progress is there when you come back. If you delete the app, the account on your phone is gone and the data on the server is left without an owner; we delete such orphaned data from time to time, and immediately on request.
RAOA is not aimed at children under 13, and some adventure cards are written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has been using the app, contact us and we will delete the account.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data about you, or to object to how it is used. Because we hold no identifying details, the practical route for all of these is the deletion request above. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If the app starts collecting something new, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app.
